This week Hal and Lindsey are joined by Bill Hanstock. He’s known for his wrestling writing in Uproxx and SBNation. But now he’s got a new project: a book about the complete and comprehensive history of WWE. Yeah.

In addition to getting all the details about that, we’ll also talk about a bunch of recent wrestling programming. For one, RAW had no women’s matches. It certainly didn't make the show easier to watch, especially as the build to the Saudi show is in full swing. What did get us excited though was the debut of Humberto on Monday nights.

AEW Dynamite continues to keep us entertained. One common criticism has been that each show has only one women’s match. How long are we willing to give the company the benefit of the doubt? We’ll explain. Plus, our thoughts on what they could continue to do from a production standpoint to truly stand-out from WWE and, yeah, we’ll weigh in on the Marko Stunt’s "controversy".

In contrast to AEW, NXT has maybe as deep a women’s roster as they’ve had in years. Multiple stars are vying for Shayna Baszler’s women’s championship. We’ll discuss who should get the nod as number one contender and explain Roderick Strong’s cast-type in film.

The Three Count

Lindsey put over Emily Pratt’s article about the Daddy’s of WWE.

Hal put over the Bayley’s heelish actions on twitter.

Hosted byHal Lublin, Lindsey Kelk and Bill Hanstock.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

This week Danielle, Lindsey and Mike break down tons of Wednesday night’s AEW and NXT.

This week Danielle, Lindsey and Mike take a look at the October 9th editions of AEW Dynamite and NXT.

Perhaps the biggest story detail from AEW was the introduction of Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle. Sammy Gueverra, LAX and Jake Hager are on the list of Le Champion. We explain our reservations with one of the members faction and marvel at the sight of Jericho as the very top guy of a company.

In terms of matches, Private Party upsetting The Young Bucks was a fantastic showcase of tag team wrestling and it’s great to see Dustin Rhodes after such a lengthy career. We discuss it all, including what Mike’s son thinks of the show after his first exposure to wrestling.

And on the WWE front, NXT continues to showcase tons of great matches. Most notably, Lio Rush is the new Cruiserweight champion and Kushida had an outstanding match with WALTER. But surprisingly, the thing we’re most excited for from WWE was on Smackdown. And it had to do with the deaths of some inflatable tubemen

The Three Count

Julian put over WOW Women of Wrestling.

Lindsey put over the tribute to the fallen Bayley Buddies.

Danielle put over NWA Powerr.

Hosted by Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Mike Eagle.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Oct 10, 2019

This week Hal and Danielle are joined by Jacquis Neal from the Culture Kings podcast.

After months of build up, AEW and NXT are officially live in primetime on Wednesday Night on TNT and USA, respectively. Naturally, the two shows are going to be compared a lot but, more importantly, they’re going to be appreciated for the entertaining programs that they are. We do a bit of both, looking at the matches that we enjoyed, nitpicking the things that need work and explaining why Wednesday night may be the only night in wrestling we unabashedly look forward to.

Of course, WWE’s flagship shows also made headlines after the premier of Smackdown on FOX and Hell in a Cell on Sunday. Smackdown started with a lot of positives on the presentation front; but a lot of that promise was washed away by Kofi Kingston lose the WWE title to Brock Lesnar in seconds. As if that wasn’t enough, Seth Rollins retained the Universal Title against the Fiend after a convoluted finish to a chorus of boos. We take a look at the shortcomings of both shows (and not without pointing out the great parts of the shows as well).

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, and Jacquis Neal.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Oct 3, 2019

This week Hal Danielle and Lindsey take a look at the season premiere of RAW. With AEW and NXT going live, SURELY the flagship program of the WWE would come out swinging, right?

We’ll discuss how we felt about everything, from the brand new set to storylines, to the surprising lack of wrestling for most of the show.

The good news of course is that if RAW isn’t doing it for you, there are plenty of new wrestling shows to entertain you. And last week NXT showed that it will continue to deliver the goods as it prepares for a two hour broadcast on USA.

Keith Lee, Matt Riddle, Io Shirai, Dakota Kai… there’s almost too many stars in place that look poised to keep the show as WWE’s best, even when it airs at the same time as the fledgling AEW.

The Three Count

Julian put over Vince McMahon directed by David Lynch.

Lindsey put over Jungle Boy’s farewell to indie wrestling.

Danielle put over AEW’s Real Different promo.

Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, and Lindsey Kelk.

Sep 26, 2019

This week Hal Danielle and Lindsey take a look at the first week of NXT on USA. Tons of great wrestling got a chance to shine, including Candice LeRae who now has a shot at the NXT women’s title on Oct. 2nd.

Not only that, but the Undisputed Era now holds every men's title on the brand. With Roderick Strong defeating Velveteen Dream for the North American title, it looks like NXT has its central antagonists for once their on for a full two hours.

Plus: with NXT now on live TV, more people under the WWE umbrella will be stopping by Full Sail for the exposure. That included WALTER with the Imperium faction from NXT UK and Oney Lorcan and Lio Rush from 205 Live came through. We’ll explain what we thought of their showings.

All of this, plus who on RAW and Smackdown got our attention on the “season finales” of the shows as they prepare for major reboots? Is Carmella the master of the long con? And have King Corbin and Chad Gable found the grounds for a real rivalry?

The Three Count

Hal put over Carmella winning the 24/7 championship.

Lindsey put over Kairi Sane.

Danielle put over Ali in Hawaii.

Hal LublinDanielle Radford, and Lindsey Kelk.

Sep 19, 2019

This week Danielle and Lindsey are joined by Rachel Millman. She’s one of the founders of the "WrestleSplania" podcast. She’ll explain how her journey into wrestling led to her starting the podcast and how she plans to reboot the show in the coming weeks.

Clash of Champions

This past weekend, WWE held "Clash of Champions," the final PPV before they air three live televised wrestling programs every week.

Seth Rollins may have lost on of his championships, but he is still the Intercontinental Champion. And while his match with Braun was good, if a little rushed, the bigger story is his next opponent: Bray Wyatt aka The Fiend. Is Braun being lost in the shuffle with all of this? And does WWE have things pointing in the right direction for its most significant title with competition closing in?

And speaking of new opponents, Brock Lesnar has challenged Kofi Kingston for the WWE title. Is this the end for the dream run? And how do we feel about Brock being the one to end it?

Plus, Baron Corbin is your new King of the Ring, The Revival continue their career resurgence and why Danielle sees Randy Orton as a buffer version of certain celebrity (hint: 500 Days of Summer)

The Three Count

Rachel put over Jake Atlas vs. Priscilla Kelly at Rise.

Lindsey put over Yamashiro restaurant in Hollywood.

Danielle put over MJF on Twitter.

Danielle Radford, and Lindsey Kelk.

Sep 12, 2019

This week Hal, Danielle, and Lindsey are joined by RJ City. He’s an actor, comedian and wrestling raconteur across the international scene.

RJ is involved in a lot of different avenues of entertainment. That’s given him a lot versatility as a performer since he learns a lot from working with so many different audiences. But it’s also made him acutely aware of the different… physical requirements with wrestling compared to being a stand up comic. He’ll explain.

Plus, he’ll tell us all about why he’s become so bored with the traditions of wrestling; in his mind it’s a whole lot of very passionate people competing for very small stakes. That’s why he works to combat a lot of the ideas of traditional masculinity in his work. RJ will tell us about how intentional that is.

All of this and why he thinks wrestling isn’t headed for a mainstream audience any time soon.

RJ City’s can be seen in an upcoming comedy show with Dalton Castle in Toronto and on his YouTube channel.

Sep 5, 2019

This week Hal, Danielle, Lindsey and Mike are reunited to discuss All Out! It’s AEW’s last show before they go live on TNT in October.

The brand still had a few surprises in store. That included the debuts of LAX and Orange Cassidy; fan favorites from the international wrestling scene who have an opportunity to make a name for themselves on a bigger stage.

Plus there was the somewhat surprising coronation of Chris Jericho as the AEW champion. But we all agree that the best moment of this story came after the broadcast when Jericho had his AEW World Championship stolen.

We’ll laugh about that, break down the rest of the show and discuss Bayley’s newly minted heel turn.

Hosted by Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Mike Eagle.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Now that AEW’s All Out show is just around the corner, the panel will discuss the career of one of the competitors for AEW World Championship: Chris Jericho.

He’s been known as Y2J, Lionheart, The Alpha and a bunch of other nicknames. We’ll go through all of the major phases of his wrestling career to share personal memories and dissect what’s made him so enduring and affecting.

Aug 22, 2019

This week Hal and Danielle are joined by Travis McElroy! He’s one-third of podcasting’s most famous brotherhood as the middlest brother on My Brother, My Brother and Me and The Adventure Zone.

Travis joins us to talk about his experience as a lapsed fan of wrestling and as a fan of the Netflix series GLOW. With season 3 now available to stream, what did everyone think? Was it as strong as the previous seasons? And how much longer should the show continue?

Plus, Lindsey joins us to discuss the news of NXT officially moving to primetime on Wednesdays at the same time as AEW. With the news of Vince McMahon supposedly taking on a larger role in producing the show, how hopeful are we that the brand will maintain the same level of quality that it’s had for the past five years?

All of that… and we’ll even have some fun about the team names of the XFL.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Travis McElroy.

Aug 15, 2019

This week, Hal Danielle and Lindsey discuss one of the busiest weeks of wrestling in recent memory.

Despite all of the solid wrestling across WWE’s shows, one character has captured the imagination of people more than anything else: Bray Wyatt as The Fiend. From the entrance to the music to his destruction of Finn Balor, the character is bars. We’ll break down what makes it work.

Plus, WWE managed to recapture some goodwill after another solid TakeOver, having Seth Rollins pin Brock Lesnar clean and showcasing the return of Sasha Banks as Becky Lynch’s presumed next challenger.

But of course, that’s just on the WWE side of things. This weekend also had the culmination of the G1 Climax in New Japan. As we had hoped, Kota Ibushi has finally reached the summit, defeating Jay White in the finale. Does this mean he’ll further fulfill our hopes by becoming the IWGP champion at Wrestle Kingdom?

Recently, EVE announced that they would be embarking on a first-of-its-kind venture in wrestling: partnering with a union to make sure its performers gain representation. They’ll discuss how long the deal has been in the works and why there’s still trepidation in the wrestling world to embrace unionization.

Plus, they’ll discuss which performers within EVE they’re excited to see, why wrestling seems to be so behind in terms of equality from the rest of the world and the next changes that they’d like to see the industry embrace in the near future.

This week, Hal Danielle and Lindsey are joined by DJ Accident ReportLady Bearica Andrews and Ariel Italic. They’re collectively known as The Nobodies on their YouTube series where they breakdown wrestling events.

Bearica and Ariel are both relatively new fans while Accident Report has watched since childhood. And since they started their show they’ve learned something very important: the venn diagram of the world of drag and the world of wrestling is a very large circle. They’ll explain why the entertainment mediums are so identical.

They’ll also discuss how they feel about modern WWE, what it’s been like to cater to an underserved population of wrestling community and why it feels like international wrestling promotions are finally starting to gain a greater amount of attention.

The Nobodies are hosting the Mx. Nobody Pageant beginning August 8th at Brooklyn Bazaar.

Mike is also known as a reputable trainer in the wrestling business. He’s worked with tons of well-known stars like Drew Gulak and Aleister Black. Even though he’s still a busy guy, he says that going to the performance center is his equivalent of Christmas. He’ll explain why.

Plus, his thoughts on All Elite Wrestling, how the modern landscape of wrestling is shifting so much and why he believes in balancing quality story-telling with high-spot pornography.

Mike Quackenbush’s newest project is the YouTubeTil We Make It where he tries to give potential wrestlers (and even fans) a look at the best practices and etiquette to begin your professional career.

Jul 18, 2019

This week, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by their long-absent co-host Mike Eagle! Aside from putting on a great television show The New Negroes, where has he been all this time? He’ll explain everything, including why the return of Hulk Hogan to WWE led to him swearing off the company for the foreseeable future.

But luckily for us, All Elite Wrestling’s rise has provided him with a new televised wrestling product that he’s been able to enjoy and critique. He and the team will take a close look AEW’s latest show Fight for the Fallen. That includes what’s worked about the company’s single matches so far, why the tag matches haven’t quite clicked for some of us and why Jon Moxley’s connections with Frasier is so edifying.

This week, Hal, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by Rob Van Dam. Through his 30 year career, he’s been seen in dozens of wrestling promotions and been a champion for just about all of them. He’s perhaps best known for his time in WWE where he was a multiple time Intercontinental and tag champion before he beat John Cena for the WWE Title in 2005.

RVD is also known for being one of the original founding performers of Extreme Championship Wrestling. While he doesn’t think ECW content will ever be welcome in mainstream TV again, he does think there’s still one particular fledgling company that is embracing the philosophies that made it successful.

Rob will discuss his career highlights, why he wants to keep wrestling in spite of having such a long career and why he’s dedicated to finding CBD treatments for concussions.

RVD’s documentary Headstrong is available now.

All of that, plus New Japan’s G1 Climax, Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary and whether or not WWE’s main roster is getting left behind in a Summer full of awesome wrestling events.

Hosted by Hal Lublin Danielle Radford, and Lindsey Kelk.

Jul 4, 2019

This week, Hal, Danielle and Lindsey discuss AEW’s sophomore event, Fyter Fest. While, there was tons of great wrestling and promos throughout the entire show, there was also an unprotected chair-shot to the head Cody Rhodes that overshadowed a lot of the other good things on the card.

But that’s not to say there wasn’t stuff to be excited about too. MJF, Jungle Boy, The Lucha Bros. and others had great showings and we’ll discuss what stood out to us… and what we’re still not sure about.

Plus, it appears that WWE has finally revealed what their creative response to AEW’s presence will be going forward. Late last week, it was announced that Paul Heyman will be responsible for the direction of RAW and Eric Bischoff for Smackdown.

We’ll look at what changes are evident for the future of the product, whether we’re into them and question their newfound desire for minor obscenities from promos and Corey Graves.

All of this… plus one more look at the G1 Climax at the stories that will come to a head at wrestling’s biggest tournament of the summer.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, and Lindsey Kelk.

Jun 27, 2019

This week, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by Emily Pratt She’s a wrestling writer and reporter for Uproxx.

There’s a lot of things to be really excited about right now, including the G1 Climax! The tournament kicks off next month and the card is STACKED! There are plenty of big returns advertised and incredibly talented performers facing throughout. Whether it’s KENTA vs. Ibushi or Okada vs. Archer, expect a lot of geeking out.

On the WWE side, there’s also the prospect of Samoa Joe taking on Kofi Kingston that we’re really into. Plus Drew Gulak finally capturing the Cruiserweight title. But there’s also a lot that we’re unsure about. Why is Shane McMahon involved in so many stories? And how much faith do we have that WWE is going to tastefully portray Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch’s relationship?

The Three Count

Emily put over the BOYZ show from DDT.

Danielle put over Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens’ post-match interview

Lindsey put over Alexa Bliss’s edition of 365.

Hosted by Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Emily Pratt.

Jun 20, 2019

This week, Hal and Danielle are joined by David F. Walker and Brett Weldele. They are the writer and artist (respectively) behind the new comic series "One Fall."

The book is all about a third-generation wrestler who fights for survival and profit in a world of supernatural creatures who all want the honor of killing him in the ring… again. They’ll tell us all about their project, how they became wrestling fans and the finer points of the best bars to watch wrestling at.

The Beatdown: Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero (2005)

Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were both credited for helping popularize a lucha libre in the U.S. like few, if any, ever could have. They were best friends and frequent partners. And in their final series of matches, the stakes got more personal than most rivalries in WWE ever do. It was a contest that featured beat downs, betrayals, great promos and the custody of children. Hal and Danielle will look into what made one of Eddie’s last major storylines work so well… and why it wouldn’t have worked if they both weren’t so good.

The Three Count

Danielle put over Effy’s Twink Gauntlet and Stokely Hathaway’s quest to regain his CD player.

Hal put over Daniel Bryan’s commentary during Heavy Machinery’s match.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, David F. Walker and Brett Weldele.

But a few weeks ago he and his wife traveled to Mexico City and Arena Mexico where they saw their first live wrestling show, put on by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. He’ll share all the fun and absurdity that he experienced, including why he found the heels more entertaining for the wrestling, how indie-wrestling star Colt Cabana helped make this happen and which wrestler inspired his future tattoos.

May 30, 2019

This week, Hal and Danielle are rejoined by Box Brown. He’s a comic creator whose new book "Cannabis: The Illegalization of Weed in America".

Brown is a longtime, but lapsed, fan of WWE. The trends of the product have led to him being less dedicated to following televised wrestling. But this week featured a show that rekindled that love and has the entire panel excited for what’s to come: Double or Nothing from All Elite Wrestling.

It wasn’t perfect. But it was a great first step for a fledgling promotion that has the money and roster to compete with WWE for attention. We’ll go over everything that worked and what didn’t work… and take a quick look at what RAW’s response to the show was.

The Three Count

Box put over the all-women promotion AEW’s post-show press conferences.

Danielle put over wrestling in WWE shouting out AEW.

Hal put over Zack Ryder’s appearance on the Defunctland Podcast.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Box Brown.

May 23, 2019

This week, Danielle and Lindsey are rejoined by LaToya Ferguson. She’s the author of the brand new book "An Encyclopedia of Women’s Wrestling: 100 Profiles of the Strongest in the Sport." In it, she details some of wrestling’s most important and impressive female athletes through the years, from Act Yasukawa to Wendi Richter.

The panel will also discuss Money in the Bank. As WWE’s first PPV after WrestleMania, it had the responsibility of setting the tone for the future narratives of the company, which it did in some ways we’re excited about and in others that we’re less sure about.

In good news: Bayley won the Money in the Bank ladder match and used it on the same night to become the Smackdown Women’s Champion. But now that Becky is one title short, what will the story be going forward? Should Bayley and Becky have a match or is The Man going to focus on RAW and take on Lacey Evans.

Plus, while Brock Lesnar returning to win the men’s Money in the Bank Briefcase disappointed many, Lindsey will explain why she’s actually okay with this version of the Beast involved in WWE programing.

All of this… plus a look at WWE’s newest accolade: The 24/7 Championship.

The Three Count

Latoya put over the all-women promotion Rise.

Lindsey put over Paul Heyman’s promo on RAW.

Danielle put over Ali’s tweet about his match with Andrade.

Hosted by Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk and LaToya Ferguson.

May 16, 2019

This week, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by John Walsh. His fans on YouTube know him as Super EyePatch Wolf, where he’s gained following for deep dives into anime, video-games and wrestling.

The panel takes a look at the latest stories and characters in NXT. That includes the drama surrounding the Undisputed Era, Matt Riddle’s cannabis and shoe habits, who the next women’s champion should be and the potential of Mr. Eric Bugenhagen.

The Beatdown

For years it was considered the sacred cow of WWE: The Undertaker’s WrestleMania undefeated streak. The drama and mythos behind “The Streak” really ramped up when Shawn Michaels and Triple H tried to end it for four consecutive years.

We’ll take a look at what made The Road to 20-0 so effective, including our thoughts on this 20+ year story and how we felt about its conclusion.

This week, Hal, Danielle and Lindsey take a look at WWE’s new Wild Card rule!

For the last several years WWE’s two shows have existed as (mostly) separate shows with separate rosters. But a lot of that went right out the window this week, as more crossover is guaranteed in the future. We’ll discuss the positives and negatives of this new strategy.

The Wild Card rule is meant to spur interest in the product. And let’s face it: there’s a LOT of negativity surrounding WWE right now from most viewers. And this goes beyond the disingenuous IWC criticism; ratings have dipped, fans say they’ve lost faith in the company’s story-telling ability.

What’s the cause of this? Well, that “Ucey Hot” segments with the Revival probably didn’t help. But we’ll take a look at what the problems are and whether or not WWE is being held to an unfair standard that other popular media isn’t.

The Three Count:

Danielle put over Detective Pikachu dancing to Sami Zayn’s music.

Lindsey put over Kushida’s NXT debut.

Hal put over this Twitter thread of crazy Vince McMahon stories.

Hosted by Hal LublinDanielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.
